Keyless Entry

The majority of newer cars and some older models provide keyless entry, a feature that lets you unlock your vehicle without having to touch the door handle or insert a key. Some of the most advanced systems include remote keyless ignition (RKI) which can start your engine and can activate ten electronic accessories.

These systems use radio signals that are emitted from your vehicle, and are then picked up by a receiver located in the key fob. The key fob will send an indication when you press the button on the handle or put your hand on it. This signal is then matched by the receiver of the vehicle.

The most modern keyless entry systems for automobiles are equipped with advanced technology. This allows you to manage these systems using a mobile application or a cloud management system. This allows you to better manage them if you need to allow guests or maintenance personnel access to your vehicles or buildings.

While these systems are extremely useful, they do have disadvantages. Some of the most severe concern security. For instance, if a key fob battery is dead while you're in your car, it can no longer transmit its signal and you won't be capable of locking or starting the engine. Numerous manufacturers have systems that warn you if the key is nearing running out, but they're not foolproof.

Transponder Keys

One of the most popular types of car keys are transponder keys (also called chip keys) which work by utilizing microchips embedded in the head of the plastic car key. This microchip transmits an ultra-low level signal to the receiver inside your car, which matches the serial number of your digital key programmed by the manufacturer. This is done to protect against any unauthorized copying of your car key which means you will be able to only start your vehicle.

These keys are difficult to copy and are less likely to be stolen. They also cost more than keys made of flat metal, however, if you have a good quality locksmith who knows how to program them specifically for your vehicle, they can save you money in the end.

While they provide a great deal of security however, they can be easy for children to play with and cause damage. They must be kept in a secure space that is out of reach of children. Tossing them into water could be dangerous. Some of them also require batteries, which makes them dangerous to have around in the house.

Most times an experienced locksmith is able to duplicate these types of keys and reprogramme them for you.  suzuki alto key fob  can be done for a fraction of what you would pay a dealership and it's also more efficient.

Keys Folding Keys

Certain cars can have keys that fold. The metal is folded into the body of the plastic, making it easier to store and smaller. They are getting more and more sought-after, particularly since they are less likely to be damaged by water or heat. They are also more difficult to duplicate and therefore a more secure option over other types of car keys.

They're not the most practical however, they'll work if you have lost your regular car keys. They're also cheaper to replace than transponder keys making them a good alternative for those who want to save money on their car's security features.

Silca-Proximity and Remote Car Keys are available for many different models. They are ready-to-programme using the PCB, transponder, and flip blades for emergency or flip included. They can be programmed with advanced diagnostics devices. They are individually packaged in a plastic container for easy identification.

These keys are an excellent replacement for a broken button or worn-out keycase on a remote control. However, they do NOT contain the internal electronics (include immobilizer/transponder chip)unit inside so please be sure you are buying a complete car key before purchasing!

Mechanical Keys

Modern cars do not make use of mechanical keys. Instead, they use an RFID chip inside keys to identify it and communicate with the system of the car to start and operate. The mechanical key can unlock the doors and the fuel cap. However, if it is not programmed to communicate with your vehicle it won't be able to start.

The system makes use of LF (low frequency 125 kmhz) transmitting antennas both inside and outside the vehicle which communicate with the smart key. If the key is close enough to trigger one of these antennas, it sends its identification back to the car using RF (radio frequency >300 MHz). The PASE module then validates the key and turns off the immobilizer, allowing for the vehicle to start.

A backup mechanical method is also available if the battery on the smart key's smart key goes down or fails. Many manufacturers hide the emergency mechanical blade behind an enclosure for aesthetic reasons. Most vehicles with smart-key systems have an emergency starting system which involves putting the dead key fob in an opening, or keeping it close to an area on the dashboard, which will charge it electrically using inductive charging.
